5 Ways to Start Before You’re Ready (and Build a Purpose-Driven Business)
Hi friend,
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from sitting down with women who are building their own dreams and sharing their versions of wealth, it’s this: there’s never a perfect time to begin.
That truth couldn’t be clearer in this week’s conversation with Lizeth Lambo, founder and CEO of Plastics Med Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. Lizeth’s story is full of courage, purpose, and starting before she felt ‘ready’.
Her transition from stay-at-home mom to launching a luxury med spa in the middle of uncertainty, reminded me that sometimes ‘trying’ is the bravest thing we can do.
My hope in hosting these conversations on The Wealth We Hold is to inspire your next step towards saying ‘yes’ to something new or finally choosing to put yourself and your dreams first. Here are 5 lessons I took away from Lizeth’s story.
1. There’s no perfect time, just the courage to start.
Lizeth said it best:
“There’s no perfect time at all. I just decided with my support system, if it fails, at least I tried.”
Searching for perfection is often a quiet form of fear, keeping us stuck in a loop of waiting. We convince ourselves that once everything aligns, we’ll finally move forward. But progress is built in imperfect moments, when we choose to act even though we’re scared.
2. Use what you already have.
When Lizeth couldn’t find the “perfect” location for her business, she nearly gave up. Two years later, she looked around at the space she already had- an office connected to her husband’s practice and decided to make it work.
She remodeled what was available and transformed it into something beautiful. Her story is a reminder that sometimes, the opportunity you’re looking for is right in front of you.
3. Don’t give energy to what doesn’t serve you.
Launching a business means putting yourself out there and that can bring up insecurities around what others might think.
Lizeth shared that she used to worry about judgment online or from peers, until she learned to release it.
“If I don’t give it energy, it’s like it never existed,” she said.
That perspective is freeing. When we stop feeding the noise, we make space for what truly matters: our purpose, our people, and our peace.
4. Purpose is the real fuel.
What kept Lizeth going wasn’t pressure, it was purpose. After years of pouring into others, she realized she wanted to create something that made women feel confident and seen.
“We build from purpose, not ego,” she said.
“When you do that, everything aligns naturally.”
Purpose will always outlast guilt, fear, or perfectionism. It’s the reason we keep showing up, even when it’s hard.
5. Redefine wealth as freedom.
Lizeth’s definition of wealth is…
“the freedom to create, to choose your time, to live in alignment with your purpose.”
For her, wealth isn’t about having more. It’s about peace, joy, and presence. It’s being able to show up for her family, her team, and herself in ways that feel aligned. She shows us the moment you stop waiting for “perfect,” you make room for possibility.
So here’s a gentle nudge: whatever you’ve been dreaming of, start now. Use what you have. Trust that the lessons will come. And remember, the only way to fail is not to try at all.
