From the Ground Up: Starting Over (and Inviting You Along)

September 09, 20254 min read

Hi friend,

If you’ve ever had to start over in life, you know how scary it can feel. Whether it’s after a relationship ends, a career shifts, a big move somewhere new, or even just realizing that the version of yourself you’ve been carrying no longer fits, starting again takes courage.

I’ve had to start over many, many times.

I moved out at 17.
I packed up my life and relocated to Chicago in 2008 with no friends and no connections.
I went through a divorce in 2018.
I walked away from a successful career in 2020.
And in September 2024, life came crashing down again.

This time, instead of trying to control it or patch it up quickly, I let it all fall apart.

In January 2025, I packed what was left of my belongings into a storage pod and booked a one-way ticket to Portugal. I didn’t have a grand plan to carry me through, I’d only booked an Airbnb for the first few nights. I had less than $1k and no clue how to speak Portuguese. What I did have was faith that I could rebuild my life. Maybe not into something shinier externally, but into something truer internally.

And because of my professional pivot five years ago, I was able to recognize the importance of documenting my journey. This isn’t a highlight reel. It’s not about picture-perfect success. It’s the messy middle, the lessons I’m learning as a woman, a founder, a dreamer, trying to put her life back together piece by piece, story by story.

Because I believe we need to see each other in the rebuilding.

That’s why I’ve launched From the Ground Up, my new vlog on YouTube

Why I’m Sharing My Story

For years, through Common Wealth Collective, I’ve worked with female founders and women-led brands to build communities, host events, grow memberships, and tell their stories. My podcast, The Wealth We Hold, has been a space for women to share how they’re redefining wealth in life and business.

But recently, I’ve realized something: my story matters too.

Community isn’t just about revenue. It’s about connection, honesty, and creating spaces where women can show up exactly as they are, not just once they’ve “figured it all out.”

I’m letting you in because maybe you’re starting over right now too. Or maybe you’re thinking about it. Maybe you’re feeling the nudge to make a change but are scared of what it means. If so, I want you to know you’re not alone.

A New Chapter: Finding Common Ground

From The Ground Up

Alongside the vlog, I’ve launched something else close to my heart: Finding Common Ground, a monthly virtual women’s circle.

This will be a safe, sacred space where women can come together, sip a curated beverage, and share honestly about where we are on our journeys. Each month, I’ll co-host with a female founder from the coffee world with a new recipe- our Sip of the Month, and an intention for us to ground into together.

Our second circle is on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 9 am PST.

Starting over may feel lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. Together, we can find common ground.

Why This Matters for Women & Female Entrepreneurs

I want you to hear me:

You are allowed to start over.
You are allowed to change your mind.

You are allowed to fall apart.
You are allowed to build again. Slowly, imperfectly, intentionally.

The world tells us that we should already have it all figured out, at least externally. The relationship, the family, the finances, the business plan. But I’ve learned (again and again) that life rarely, if ever, works that way. And honestly? That’s the beauty of it.

Every time I’ve been forced to start again, I’ve uncovered a new layer of strength, wisdom, and possibility. This is what women’s empowerment really looks like: not perfection, but permission. And as a Virgo, oldest daughter, this has been a deep rooted lesson for me to learn.

My invitation to you today is simple: sit in community with me as I share my struggles. Subscribe to my new vlog, From the Ground Up, on YouTube to follow my imperfect journey. Join me for our Finding Common Ground Women's Circle. Bring your favorite bev, your messy middle, your hope for what’s next, and let’s start again, together.

Because no matter where you are on your path, you deserve community, support, and the reminder that you are not alone.

With all my love,
Lynzie
