Finding Common Ground Women Circle

Remembering My Authentic Voice

October 22, 20254 min read

Hey friend,

So yesterday I hosted our monthly Finding Common Ground women’s circle and it was powerful, so much more than I expected. It reminded me why I’m doing this.

This was our second one, and I loved it! Hosting something small but powerful really grounded me. It reminded me that connection doesn’t have to look big to be meaningful. Even if I continue rebuilding my own community one woman at a time, that matters.

Remembering My Voice

Our intention for our October Circle got me thinking a lot about what it means to ‘remember’ my voice. The word ‘finding’ alludes to something being lost. My voice was never lost, it was suppressed.

For a long time, I equated being “professional” with being polished. Back when I was a hairstylist, I was almost robotic in my professionalism, perfectly composed, perfectly on. And in some ways, that worked. It served me then. But it also kept me from showing up fully as me.

Now, I’m in this new season of entrepreneurship, and I feel like I’m re-learning what it means to use my voice. Not the perfectly edited, polished version. The voice that’s honest, even when it’s uncomfortable.

It’s stretching me. Facilitating these circles and launching my recent YouTube channel is teaching me about vulnerability, self-trust, and letting go of perfection. I’m also furthering my lessons around detachment and releasing expectations of the outcomes of these projects. Instead I’m focusing on the value I’m receiving in these spaces. It truly lights me up to create spaces that expand my authenticity.

Sitting with Shame

I’ve been talking a lot about shame lately, especially around starting over. There’s a version of me that still whispers, “You should be further along.” And that version is loud sometimes.

But I’m learning that healing happens in the small steps, the baby steps. Have you heard the Olivia Dean song Baby Steps? That’s been my soundtrack lately, and exactly what this last year has been for me: tiny, steady steps toward something new.

And I’m realizing the shame only has power when I stay quiet. When I name it outloud, it starts to lose its grip. It becomes just a part of my story. I’m starting to realize the impact these ‘plot twists’ have had on my life overall and how much impact I can make by speaking up around the deepest areas of my own shadow.

The Circle That Brought It Home

Yesterday’s women’s circle brought that lesson full circle for me, pun intended! We had a small group, just ten women registered but the energy was incredible!

I pulled tarot cards again, and even though this still feels new for me to share in an extended space of my business, it just clicked. The messages landed in exactly the ways I needed them to. It felt like the universe was nodding, “Yes. You’re on the right path.”

And it hit me…

I don’t need to force growth.

I don’t need to over-polish, over-edit, or overthink every word.

I just need to keep showing up.

Keep speaking.

Keep sharing.

Because every time I do, I add to rebuilding my confidence. As my confidence builds, my belief in my vision for myself and my community deepens. Belief is a necessary ingredient for creation. Over the last five years, my belief in myself and my journey has diminished. Slowly, over this last year, I’ve felt my momentum return once again.

Letting It Be Messy

I’m learning to let things be messy: my voice, my process, even my content. I used to feel like every aspect needed to be “top-tier”. But maybe it doesn’t. Maybe I’ve created a space that is safe for me to document my own journey, to show what real growth actually looks like. And maybe this will inspire others to feel safe enough in doing the same.

This is what growth looks like. Sometimes it’s five views on a vlog that took all week to edit. But I’m doing it anyway, because that’s how I rebuild. By showing up again and again, even when it feels like no one’s watching.

I’m doing this because I believe fully in the power of community. I believe in women telling the truth about where they are as a way to give and receive support. And that’s what my entire journey is about. Finding my voice. Sharing my story. Trusting that the right people will connect with me and my experiences. That’s how we build authentic communities, one honest conversation at a time.

If you’re remembering what your authenticity sounds like, I see you. Truly.

Keep going.

Keep showing up.

Don’t wait for it to look perfect to someone else.

Don’t wait until it all makes sense.

Just take the next small step.

If you’ve ever felt like your story is too small, let me assure you: you’re exactly where you need to be. I’d love for you to join our Finding Common Ground virtual women’s circle on November 20th. And if you’re looking for further inspiration to take action, subscribe to my Youtube Channel: From The Ground Up. I’m in this with you, showing up with my voice, my story, my messy beautiful path.

This is how we build community. Together.

See you inside!
